GAR Drum

The drum, manufactured by Lyon and Healy of Chicago after 1864, was used by Hilliker at numerous post war meetings of his detachment of the Grand Army of the Republic, a fraternal veterans organization. It features beautiful inlaid wood depictions of Civil War soldiers and the symbol of the GAR, which is ironically very similar to the Medal of Honor.
